Some years ago I saw a report on the internet by a person who had visited Pelion from the UK travelling with Sunvil. I read up on it at the time but could only find two companies, Sunvil and Tapestry, who were making the trip and both very expensive. However some time later it began to open up with both Manos and Kosmar offering holidays to Pelion and at a more reasonable price. Although the numbers travelling to Pelion was not high and not sufficient to fill a plane this was covered by combining the flight with Skiathos.
Due to the short runway at Skiathos it was not possible to take off with sufficient fuel to reach the UK and so the planes had to land at Thessaloniki to take on fuel. Combining the Skiathos flights with Pelion meant that the planes could fuel at Volos for the return to the UK. However in more recent times the planes used have been able to take on sufficient fuel and take off from Skiathos. Manos was taken over and withdrew from Pelion. Tapestry ceased trading and although it reformed it no longer visits Pelion. Kosmar have cut back considerably and now only visit Horton and Milina using the ferry from Skiathos.
It is then becoming more difficult to visit Pelion with a UK travel company and some airlines such as XL are not very reliable if you want to travel independently.
If you visit Pelion from the UK how are you getting there?
